Provably Fair vs RNG: What's the Difference?
All gambling uses RNG (random number generation). Only some is provably fair. Here is the key distinction.
Every gambling game uses a random number generator — a computer process that spits out random outcomes. But "RNG" alone is not proof of fairness. Provably fair goes a step further.
Standard RNG
Traditional casinos (including most regulated ones) use certified RNG algorithms. You have to trust the casino that the RNG is legit and that individual bets are not manipulated.
Provably fair
Provably fair publishes cryptographic commitments before each bet. You can independently verify, after the bet, that the outcome matched what was committed. The site has no way to manipulate individual bets.
Why this matters for Roblox gambling
Roblox gambling sites are not licensed casinos. There is no regulator auditing their RNGs. Provably fair is the only real guarantee players have. Never play on a Roblox gambling site without provably fair games.
